President’s message for National Voluntary Blood Donation Day

Dear Friends,

National Voluntary Blood Donation Day - October 1st

Greetings from ISBTI!

On the occasion of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day, I extend my heartiest greetings to each of you. This day, celebrated every year on October 1st, reminds us of the life-saving potential that lies in the simple act of donating blood.

ISBTI first declared October 1st as Voluntary Blood Donation Day in 1975, as part of its mission to promote voluntary blood donation across the country. ISBTI has been a torchbearer in the movement for safe and sufficient blood supplies, working tirelessly since its founding in 1971, under the guidance of Mrs. K. Swaroop Krishen and Dr. J.G. Jolly.

In 1996, this day received national recognition when the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) officially designated it as National Voluntary Blood Donation Day. Since then, it has been celebrated across the country to highlight the importance of voluntary blood donation and the critical role donors play in saving lives.

I urge each and every one of you to join us in raising awareness about voluntary blood donation. Together, we can ensure that every person in need of blood receives it, thanks to the generosity of donors. ISBTI will continue its efforts to inspire more people to donate and to create a self-sufficient blood supply system.

To all the blood donors, your dedication and compassion are the foundation of this cause. You are the true heroes, making a difference in countless lives. We deeply appreciate your invaluable contribution.

Let us pledge today to continue spreading the message of voluntary blood donation, for a healthier, safer, and more compassionate nation.

Best Wishes & Warm Regards

Dr. Yudhbir Singh
President, ISBTI
